About My Clients
Many of the patients who find me are grappling with symptoms of depression, anxiety, the aftermath of sexual trauma, or current/past abusive relationships. I see my work as accompanying my patients as they explore all the areas of themselves, including their core wounds and belief systems, in order to know themselves more deeply and alleviate suffering in their lives.
My Background and Approach
I have been working with survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence both domestically and abroad for over twenty years. I have a double major in Womens Studies and Latin American and Latino Studies and a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Latino Counseling. I am bilingual in Spanish and English. As a therapist I have worked in community clinics serving survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, as a community mental health therapist in our local elementary and middle schools, and in private practice settings. I have received extensive consultation in the areas of psychodynamic and depth therapy orientations and I am in my third year of supervising therapists-in-training in these modalities. Finally, I am a pro bono clinician with the Bay Area Mental Health Asylum Project and independent contractor for mental health evaluations for asylum, VAWA, Hardship and U Visa petitions. I have conducted 60+ mental health evaluations to date.
