About My Clients

My clients often struggle with food, body, and exercise concerns, but many do not. Some clients hope to seek healing from anxiety or depression related to a specific event or part of their life while others come with a more general request for support. Check out my website at www.solaceseattle.com to learn more about the work I do.

My Background and Approach

My primary hope as a therapist is to invite clients into a more authentic expression of self and into a more fulfilling life. I pull from many therapeutic models to facilitate (re)discovery of trust and companionship with ourselves and our bodies, but most of all, I use the therapeutic relationship as an agent of change. Therapy with me is relationally focused. My work is based in values aligned with a Health at Every Size, anti-diet approach. In addition to holding a license as a mental health counselor in Washington state (LH60818315), I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (#4201) through the International Association for Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp). This was gained through extensive experience in the field of eating disorder treatment including talk- and experiential-based therapy with individuals and groups at the partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient levels of care.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe all bodies are innately good and wise, but the power of systemic and individual factors can often cause us to turn away from ourselves, making body-trust difficult. I work from the perspective that freedom with food, body, and physical activity is possible, yet looks different, for all bodies. I hope to support individuals discover their unique style of eating, moving, and embodiment and to challenge the narrow (and often harmful) images and definitions we’re taught about food, body, and exercise. I believe all bodies deserve to move intuitively and joyfully, as much or as little as they are able and desire, without shame, obligation, avoidance, or compulsivity.
