Hi, I’m Chris. I want to help you...be more...you.

Psychotherapist in Durham, NC

About My Clients

I work with adults and teens navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship struggles, and life transitions. Many clients are processing past experiences that still shape their present, and together we work to loosen that grip. I also run a group for parents facing estrangement from a child. My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming, committed to anti-racist practices, and welcomes people across identities and communities. I meet you where you are and help you move toward the life you desire.

My Background and Approach

I'm licensed in North Carolina and Florida, which means I can work with clients in either state. My approach blends relational psychodynamic, existential, and narrative approaches, all within a trauma-informed lens. I also offer EMDR. What this means for you: we won't just talk about symptoms in isolation. We'll explore how your relationships, life story, and past experiences shape what you're carrying now, so the work you do in therapy actually changes how you feel and function day to day. We will pay attention to the dynamics of our relationship as therapist and client, which can give us information on how you navigate relationships in your day to day life. I specialize in trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression, and I also lead a group for parents experiencing estrangement or alienation from a child. My own experience in therapy is a large part of why I do this work; I know firsthand that meaningful change is possible, and I bring that belief into every session.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

We live in a world where systems of oppression shape who gets access to care, safety, and belonging. I show up in this work as a cis, straight, white, able-bodied man, and I hold that identity with awareness of the privilege it carries. I'm committed to practicing with cultural humility, and to actively unlearning the biases and blind spots that come with my own position in the world. Racial justice and anti-racist practices matter deeply to me, both personally and in how I show up as a clinician. I'm also proud to be an ally to the LGBTQ+ community, and I want my practice to be a place where people of all identities feel genuinely welcome. Spirituality is important to me too, drawn from the deep and vibrant experience of being human in this world, rather than the dogmas of any single spiritual tradition. Outside of work, you'll usually find me hiking or trail running around Durham, reading, spinning vinyl, or hanging out with my spouse and our two rescue dogs.
