Somatic Psychology (body-mind psychotherapy, body-oriented psychotherapy, etc.) is a holistic form of therapy that respects and utilizes the powerful connection between body, mind, and spirit. How we are in this world, how we relate to ourselves and others, is not just purely about the mind or our thoughts, but is also deeply rooted in our bodies and our spirits. Unlike traditional talk therapy or cognitive therapy, Somatic Psychology tends to be more experiential and powerful.
Mindfulness is a state of consciousness where you simply track your experience moment by moment with as little judgment as possible. Relatively new to the West, mindfulness and its applications (medication, yoga, tai chi...) have been practiced in the East for centuries. In my sessions, we use mindfulness all the time in order to study our experience and dip into the unknown.
Couples therapy helps us navigate the most complex thing on Earth - the human relationship. We all struggle in relationships from time to time. We fight, we bicker, we threaten, we cheat. Eventually, we need some help. By weaving together attachment theory, neuroscience, mindfulness, and the most effective couples therapy approaches, I help couples fall in love again.
