About My Clients
I work very well with individuals struggling to manage their mood and experiencing intense emotional dysregulation and relationship concerns. I balance Acceptance and Change as we process and learn skills to manage all aspects of life better. I enjoy helping clients to achieve their goals and manage relevant barriers in their way. I really enjoy working with clients to discuss gender, sexuality, and identity. Finally, I work with and empathize greatly with the neurodivergent community!
My Background and Approach
I have worked in a DBT clinic, working with clients with BPD, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, and PTSD. I also have several years of experience working with grief and trauma. As the co-owner of a trauma-focused therapy clinic, I enjoy seeing clients who are working to better process their trauma in a safe, calm setting while also learning new skills to better manage challenging symptoms. I enjoy learning about trauma models and theory and attend lectures and complete certifications on a consistent basis. I have a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist certificate (CCTS-I) as well.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
On a personal level, I recognize how difficult mental health challenges and trauma can be. Since high school, I have participated in nonprofit work, crisis line support, and organized fundraisers for mental health organizations. Throughout college and into graduate school, I worked extensive with men struggling with mental health and vulnerability. Outside of my focus on clinical work and suicidality, I connect to the LGBTQ community, BLM movement, and promote inclusivity for all people. I also have a passion for the autism community and have enjoyed working with parents on various challenges of parenting children with emotional dysregulation and learning differences. While I would not consider it a current speciality, I am knowledgeable and have worked with individuals involved in the kink community as I promote safe sex practices and consent in the work that I do.
