About My Clients
Over the past 20 years, I have been honing my counseling skills running, staffing, and training several outpatient mental health programs serving the vast diversity of needs of my communities. I absolutely love working with people who feel stuck, who are frustrated with not seeing progress, and are brave enough to ask for help. I have extensive training and knowledge of depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship challenges and am thrilled when people seek and value community.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed clinical social worker, and have over 20 years of individual and group counseling experience. I have had the honor of serving as a counselor as well as being a director and manager of several mental health programs, including recently running one of Portland's largest outpatient mental health clinics. Professionally, I value a commitment to serving the community, training and supervising new counselors, and investing heavily in the professional development of my peers and new graduates. I have specific training in CBT, DBT, ACT, MI, trauma informed approaches, substance use counseling, harm reduction, and supporting people with complex and chronic medical conditions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe, by virtue of seeing, that all people can grow and change. I know that all people hold a hidden reserve of power that pushes us to know a truer, more powerful version of ourselves. I have consistently served in community-facing positions for over two decades, including a specific focus on people who identify as LGBTQIA, are people of color, women, and of marginalized communities to help people with little resources live long and happy lives. As a social worker, I am compelled to invest at this level throughout my career.
