About My Clients

My typical clients are adults who care very much about other people but deny themselves that same compassion. They want to love themselves, but may not even realize how much they beat themselves up. They are often are coming out of toxic relationships with a significant other or parent. They may be battling the shame and guilt of trauma. They want to stop the endless flood of worry. They want to be able to live their lives without fear or anxiety. Most of them just need a moment to breathe.

My Background and Approach

I integrate Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Trauma informed therapy, Mindfulness, & Solution Focused Therapy into my sessions. That means identifying our strengths & looking at the past for solutions as much as problems; Recognizing the link between our beliefs & how we perceive the world; Developing habits that build on our successes; Slowing down long enough to feel our emotions; Building healthy boundaries & setting down the enormous weight of our expectations. It means giving ourselves permission to be loved. We will discuss what love (and self-love) really looks and feels like. We will bridge the gap between what we know in our heads and feel in our hearts. We'll process feelings but also learn to soothe them. You can expect to gain insight, feel compassion and a renewed sense of hope.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that sometimes the best answer isn't even on the test. We don't get extra credit for doing things in conventional ways. Our journeys are not linear, standard, or even predictable. The most important thing is just that we act in good faith, wherever that may lead us. I believe in honesty, sincerity, and authenticity. I'm really not the Rah Rah cheerleader-type. But I do care and I will challenge you (and maybe even pester you) to be kind to yourself. I do this job because I know what its like to be on the other side of the couch. If you'd like to talk, I'm here for you. My practice is open to people of all faiths, beliefs, ethnicities, abilities, gender-identities, and orientations. I fervently support the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities and value religious diversity (including nonbelief).
