About My Clients
I commonly work with individuals who's compulsive sexual behaviors have had negative impacts on a their relationships, spirituality, overall emotional well being, and other aspects of life. I also work with individuals who have had affairs and are experiencing the shame that often results from breaking a relationship boundary. Struggles involving sexual behaviors can involve a great deal of pain and negative view of self.
My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy involves working from a sex positive focus, which helps individuals explore healthy sexuality as opposed to pathologizing or shaming their sexual behaviors. I help clients explore the underlying meaning of their behaviors and find ways to heal wounded relationships. While I have specific training in helping individuals who have struggled with compulsive sexual behaviors, I am more generally an intimacy therapist. As an intimacy therapist I help clients explore their barriers to experiencing and sustaining intimate relationships.. Often times those difficulties are a product of multiple influences across a person’s life. From early social interactions, to cultural and societal beliefs, experiences with abuse or neglect, and our earliest relationships (our caregivers/parents). I help clients look at how these influences have impacted their relationships and potentially created insecurities.
