About My Clients
I am passionate about working with black, LGBTQIA+ youth/young adults. I am also passionate about helping those who have been marginalized and have limited access to mental health care. I see my clients as the experts in their own lives, and I work collaboratively with them to find the best potential path toward healing and growth. I work with those experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, familial/relational concerns, general life stressors, and identity concerns.
My Background and Approach
I have my bachelor's in Psychology and Family Science from the University of Maryland. I am currently completing my master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. Along with the academic instruction that I am receiving, I attend various trainings and take time to access resources that inform my practice. My main approaches are person-centered, feminist, ACT, and Gottman for couples. In all that I do, I aim to work from a framework of decolonization.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am committed to using my education and privilege to provide mental health counseling to historically ignored and underserved populations. I am a black/biracial queer cis woman and aim to acknowledge intersectional identities in therapy as I intimately understand how our identities influence our experiences. My previous work experiences have been varied; I have worked with unhoused young mothers and pregnant people in DC, in psychiatric rehabilitation facilities, in methadone clinics, and in several various teaching capacities. These experiences all reinforced my passion for providing care to those who are socioeconomically disadvantaged and/or marginalized.
