About My Clients
I work virtually with young adults and adult clients who are seeking support to navigate the ups and downs of life, whether it be as a result of mood disorders (such as anxiety, depression, etc.), neuro-divergence, relational and attachment issues, identity exploration, life transitions, loss and grief, or systematic (political/environmental) issues. I also work with clients interested in centering their indigenous-based spiritual traditions and realities in their healing and wellness journey.
My Background and Approach
In virtual therapy sessions, together, we will create a safe and inclusive space where you can freely express and explore your authentic self, explore and identify the underlying factors contributing to your presenting issue, develop personalized strategies to manage symptoms, cultivate healthier patterns to help you develop a positive and nurturing relationship with yourself (and others), enhance self-healing practices, and improve your overall well-being. I am here to provide compassionate guidance, helping you navigate your journey towards self-acceptance, empowerment, and overall mental and emotional well-being. My therapeutic orientation is eclectic. It involves modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), somatics, and a systems perspective (because the environment an individual is in, shapes and influences the individual, and the individual in turn influences their environment).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a Black, queer, immigrant from Nigeria, with a dual masters in Public Health and Social Work, I understand the intricacies of navigating mental health and emotional issues in systems and societies with cultural and institutional norms that are marginalizing, oppressive, and harmful. I practice African Indigenous Spiritual Systems, precisely, Odinani, the Spiritual System of the Igbo people). I am also an initiated priest in the IFA tradition. My spiritual practice (and realities) strongly influences my perspective on life (including mental health) and liberation. I like to unwind by watching really good t.v shows, reading or listening to a good book, and eating really good food.
