About My Clients
I have years of experience working with children, tweens, teens, and young adults. I'm familiar with children diagnosed with ADHD, Autism, learning disabilities, behavioral issues, and trauma. I practice floor time play therapy, narrative therapy, and parents just don't understand therapy. The last one is a joke, but probably should be a real thing.
My Background and Approach
I practice play therapy, narrative therapy, and parent-child interaction. I offer in home sessions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I enjoy having sessions that feel more like fun and less like punishment. I aim to have my clients happy to see me rather than annoyed by another task to mark off a to-do list someone else created for them. I'd rather lay on the floor and talk about boogers, friends, unicorns, siblings, what you should wear to a party, etc. than sit in chairs and be an authoritative figure giving out advice from a place of shame and blame. I became a child therapist because I like helping children and have never turned down an opportunity to be silly. I use my kind, fun, silly, and welcoming personality to build rapport. Depending on distance, I offer home sessions to foster comfortability and a willingness to open up. I share personal experiences if they help with the therapeutic process. I find ways to be a communication translator app between child and caregiver. Contact me if you're ready for change.
