About My Clients
Have you been struggling since your child was diagnosed with autism? Have you noticed your child struggling with completing tasks on their own? I am here to help with those needs, whether it be with toilet training, caregiver training with challenging behaviors, or supporting your child with the skills needed for them to thrive. Assent-based approaches can be incredibly helpful and are necessary for children, especially those diagnosed with ASD. I can help not only your child, but you as well.
My Background and Approach
My approach to behavior services are very much client-led. I start by completing assessments that focus on what the child's strengths are before focusing on areas of deficit. This will help design protocols that will not only interest your child, but will benefit them more than compliance-based approaches. Parents should be actively involved in services as well, typically though caregiver training. My goals during these trainings are to help caregivers with the areas that they feel they need more support with. Depending on each families need, it may be recommened to only have caregiver training, or a more intensive approach with direct services with your child as well. Overall, each child and family will have individualized care that best reflects their needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Every child is capable of great things, regardless of a diagnosis. My goal is to help children and families maximize each child's potential so that the child can live their life as independently and successfully as possible. While there may be many steps to reach independence, I am always willing to put in the time and effort for each family. I personally have a passion for working with children in the foster care system, as they are often overlooked for services or have inconsistent services. Services for children with disabilities are incredibly important, and even more so for those who are experiencing inconsistencies at home. I also believe that every child should truly have an individualized approach to care. Rather than blanket recommendations for hours based on a child's age, I recommend number of hours based on research, the child's current strengths, severity of behaviors, caregiver involvement, and severity of delays.
