My personal interest is in working with Veterans, college students, and members of the LGBTQIA community.
My Background and Approach
I practice Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). These theories propose that: (a) our beliefs and thoughts greatly influence our emotional reactions and behaviors, (b) you can manage frustrations, stress, and problems effectively through problem solving and acceptance, (c) focusing on the current moment can reduce guilt, shame, and fear, (d) by developing healthy emotional expression and impulse control, you can effectively cope during distressful situations. REBT and DBT can also improve self-esteem, self-acceptance, communication skills, motivation, confidence, and emotional well-being so you can live a more fulfilling and satisfying life.

HOW MY OWN STRUGGLES MADE ME A BETTER THERAPIST There are many presenting concerns that I have personal experience with. While my previous struggles will never be exactly the same as your struggles, I can often relate and offer genuine empathy and compassion because I've been there. My clients often express their appreciation for my ability to relate to difficult life situations. Experiencing difficulties are hard in the moment and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel isn't always easy. However, you will have emotional support throughout your journey to mental health.
