About My Clients
My practice includes teenagers and young adults navigating a myriad of challenges such as anxiety, relationship issues or endings, depression, low self esteem. I also provide support and education to parents and families. I love working with adults navigating life transitions such as loss or grief, employment changes and new identities/roles. I've also expanded my practice to work with individuals navigating infertility and pregnancy loss as well as postpartum and new parenthood.
My Background and Approach
I have been a licensed clinician for over 10 years and returned to Santa Cruz where I was born and raised to serve my community including students (UCSC alum here!). As a licensed clinical social worker, my background is in helping individuals connect to resources and access support appropriate to them. I utilize this approach as a part of my therapeutic relationship with individuals in the therapy room. I find that it helps us to create a more expansive support system and network for all of your needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Growing up in a multicultural household with differing religious beliefs, I found travel and reading to be places I could learn and expand my knowledge of others. Culture, to me, is rich and is also helpful in better understanding an individual's upbringing and ways of seeing the world. Being in an interracial and inter-religious marriage, my knowledge, curiosity and sensitivity has expanded even more so. I believe in the healing power of music and animals (I was trained in equine assisted psychotherapy) and I often have my dog in the office for comfort, support and laughter. I believe in equal rights and I stand with minority groups who have been marginalized and oppressed.
