About My Clients
Maybe you’re feeling shame and fear disclosing parts of your past and try to shut everything out by keeping busy, distracting yourself, caring for others or engaging in self-harm. Maybe you have beliefs that you are a bad person, undeserving or unloveable. Maybe you have never taken time to process your own past to heal. Without judgement or shaming, I help clients begin to disrupt the unhelpful thoughts and behavioral patterns that may have originally developed as survival strategies.
My Background and Approach
I graduated in May 2019 with my master’s degree in Social Work from the George Warren Brown School at Washington University in St Louis. I have been practicing as a therapist since I graduated, first as a community-based crisis therapist and then as an outpatient trauma therapist at a Children’s Advocacy Center. I have facilitated adolescent and young adult Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) groups and trauma-informed parenting classes. My therapeutic style draws from attachment theory, mindfulness-based, strengths-based, person-centered and creative therapies like sandtray therapy. I take a holistic approach to therapy, viewing individuals as multi-faceted. I use evidence-based therapy modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Integrative Treatment for Complex Trauma (ITCT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Play Therapy, such as Sandtray Therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I would not be a therapist if I didn’t genuinely love working with people and learning their stories, thoughts, urges, beliefs, emotional experiences and all parts of them. I value social-justice, equity and inclusivity, and hope you feel welcome and affirmed in your identities.
