About My Clients
I specialize in helping those who struggle with problematic drinking and substance use and also those who are suffering due to their loved one’s struggle with addiction. Within this space I work with those suffering from depression, anxiety, and spiritual meaning-of-life issues. If you are having concerns about your use, or wondering how you can help a loved one, I can help.
My Background and Approach
The quality of any therapeutic relationship is absolutely paramount. As a therapist, I see a big part of my role as helping to create a relationship and space where people feel comfortable to do their work. I am a companion on the journey rather than being the one holding the answers. My belief is that people often underestimate themselves, and that given some combination of hope, freedom, and support, are generally able to tap their internal strengths to successfully work through things. I keep my approach client-centered and provide a non-judgmental, empathetic environment to address your personal issues and goals. Together we can work on identifying patterns that haven’t been serving you and work to create new and more positive coping skills. Regardless of where you are in your journey, I am here to help.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I also enjoy working with spiritual and meaning of life questions. While working at treatment centers and volunteering in the community, I have witnessed deep grief and come to appreciate how spiritual, environmental and cultural factors play into one’s health. Much of my background and development as a counselor has come from coaching and working with athletes. I have helped athletes with things such as finding a mental edge, goal-setting, mindfulness, and enhancing overall performance.
