My Background and Approach
I primarily use CBT, motivational interviewing, and psychoeducation in my practice. During our therapy journey you can expect a safe, nonjudgmental space to speak openly and be your authentic self. We will discuss what brought you to therapy, what has been weighing on you, and what you hope will change while exploring your story, strengths, challenges, and treatment goals. Together, we will build a plan to understand your thoughts and emotions while developing practical and real-life skills to manage stress, improve relationships, and increase confidence.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My goal is for you to leave your sessions feeling supported, hopeful, and clear about the path forward. For nearly 30 years, I have supported students, adults, and families as a therapist, school-based counselor, and social worker. I am passionate about assisting clients to achieve their goals and enhance their overall quality of life. My style is humorous, honest, and real. I believe therapy works best when you can be your authentic self, and sometimes that means laughing together even when we're doing serious work. Aside from providing therapy, I am married and the father of three daughters, two in college and one in high school. I enjoy writing, making music, consulting, mentoring, and spending time with family and friends. I love learning and meeting new challenges, and I am continually looking for ways to grow and develop a healthier understanding of myself, others, and the world. Let's Ascend!
