About My Clients
The majority of my clients are women that are dealing with symptoms of anxiety and depression, that have been exacerbated by this incredibly overwhelming year. Depression can feel like you're stuck in a hole that you can't find the energy or motivation to try to crawl out of. It can also be so long term that it feels like part of your personality at this point. I can help guide you out of that hole, as well as help you find the tools to deal with your panic and worries.
My Background and Approach
I have been practicing as a therapist since 2014 in the community and healthcare setting. I graduated in 2014 from the University of Miami with my counseling degree. My approach is relaxed and down to earth. I allow a space for my clients to be themselves and feel comfortable expressing their feelings. I work in a collaborative way with my clients as they are the experts of their own lives. I offer coping skills, unconditional positive regard, validation, insight into patterns/problems, and gentle challenging when needed. I am open and non-judgmental about lifestyles and choices. I am gender affirming and also help clients process their sexuality who may be questioning. I take a solution focused approach to problems. I also help clients reframe their unhelpful thoughts and break the cycle of ruminating on potential or unrealistic future problems.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I think the label of being an intersectional feminist sums up nicely what my beliefs are: along with advocating for women's rights and equality between the sexes, intersectional feminism includes the understanding of how women's overlapping identities — including race, class, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation and disability status — impact the way they experience oppression and discrimination.
