About My Clients

Are you stuck in survival mode, trapped by emotional patterns even after traditional talk therapy? You seek more than just coping skills; you want to move beyond cognitive understanding into a state of thriving. In addition to experiential trauma counseling, I support psychedelic preparation and integration. By untangling deep-seated blocks together, you can reclaim your authentic self and build lasting resilience against systemic forces impacting your daily mental wellness.

My Background and Approach

My journey to counseling wasn't linear. With a physics degree from UCLA and a past career as a forensic consultant, I naturally bring a non-judgmental curiosity to our work. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University, which shaped my commitment to providing an inclusive, accepting space. My approach goes beyond putting a "patch" over struggles or teaching basic coping skills. Utilizing experiential frameworks such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), and Coherence Therapy, we will target the neurobiology of transformational change. We aim to facilitate memory reconsolidation, your brain's natural ability to update past emotional learnings. By compassionately investigating and untangling old survival mechanisms, you can achieve profound, lasting change. I also offer dedicated support for psychedelic preparation and integration, helping you safely weave your psychedelic experience into daily life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe mental health struggles are rooted in past emotional learnings, not because we are bad, sick, stupid or crazy -- even though you might feel that way sometimes. The survival mechanisms that kept you safe before can hold you back today. These are not pathologies; rather, protective adaptations deserving of deep compassion. As a white, cisgender, heterosexual man, I acknowledge my unearned privilege and the systemic forces of marginalization that impact mental wellness. Having been born in South Africa during apartheid, and later navigating life as a teenage father, I know what it means to feel disconnected from your authentic self. I am an LGBTQ+ ally, welcoming all intersectional identities. Therapy must be deeply human. I bring my authentic self to the room -- whether drawing on my own healing journey, or showing up as someone who loves playing bass in a band and obsessing over pickleball. You don't have to carry the weight of the past alone; we can walk that path together.
