My Background and Approach
My background includes working as a crisis line specialist, where I supported individuals experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological struggles. I have extensive experience with: - Suicidal ideation - Self-harm - Trauma and abuse - Substance use and addiction - Mental health crises and emotional dysregulation I work with individuals from all walks of life and backgrounds through a person centered, CBT-based approach. I am especially passionate about supporting marginalized and underserved communities. As a hispanic therapist, I offer services in both English and Spanish to help bridge.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a former crisis line counselor, I have talked to many that feel unseen, unsupported, and ostracized for their mental health struggles. Some of them being at the end of their rope and no longer seeing a point to life. I have experienced what a lending ear and willingness for empathy can do to provide hope when there seems to be none. This is one of the principal tenets of my practice and my approach. Being kind and empathetic has the potential to change lives. Being from a male from a hispanic background, I have personal experience of the judgement that these cultures can lay on the metal health and emotional stability among men. I have seem time after time how damaging it is to ignore our mental health and see the very topic as a sign of weakness. I am a strong believer in the promotion of mental health resources for EVERYONE, including men and hispanic communities, which is something that is often reflected in my work.
