About My Clients
My clients are people who want to understand how to work with and move through the weight of trauma experiences-- especially those that have fundamentally challenged their ability to feel safe and excited about the life happening around them. I want to help bring choice and self-compassion back into your life, and help you to understand why your body and brain respond the way they do. I want you to know that you're not crazy or wrong to be so impacted, but things can be different.
My Background and Approach
I believe in collaboration and shared expertise. This is not a situation where I have all the answers and tell you what to do. We will come together with all of the knowledge we *both* have to find a path that works for you. I am inquisitive, direct, and willing to challenge and be challenged. I am a mixed method clinician who prefers a long-term, relational approach, meaning that I want us both to be whole people together in session and I believe that the relationship between us is fundamental to the work we will do together. You can expect to be allowed to be part of your process. You are allowed to say "I can't talk about that right now" and "what do you know about this thing?" and "I think this diagnosis describes what's happening for me" and we will explore those things together. You can expect transparency and honesty and my realistic opinion on whatever we are discussing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I specialize in interpersonal and identity-based trauma, sex, gender, sexuality, and relationships. I am kink-affirming, sex work supportive, and poly-positive. I identify as queer, trans, Black, and polyamorous. I am a parent, neurodivergent, and have chronic illness. I care about how you identify and how our ways of being in the world ingeract with and affect one another. I also believe that you cannot go to therapy for other people's issues -- it is my privilege to work in service to *you* and your life, not to make you more palatable to someone else.
