About My Clients
I have over 22 years experience working with couples, parents, and families. I work best with couples struggling in their relationships and/or having issues related to parenting. I specialize in working with middle schoolers and teenagers who engage in self-harm, and I offer a comprehensive program based on Safe Alternatives For Everyone (S.A.F.E.) I also offer an 8-week anger management program for both adults and teens.
My Background and Approach
I received my B.A. degree in Psychology from UCLA; my M.A. degree in Counseling Psychology from Pepperdine University. My PhD is in Psychology with a concentration in Mental Health Policy and Practice at Northcentral University. I am also an Adjunct Professor teaching Couple & Family Therapy at Pepperdine University. Previously, I worked as a social worker for the Department of Children and Family Services. Additionally, I worked as a Children's Mental Health Clinician for San Diego County Children's Mental Health, conducting psychological evaluations for children. Following my work with children, I conducted Psychiatric Evaluations for the Emergency Department at Tri-City Medical Center, and then worked at UCLA Medical Center as an Emergency Department Patient Liaison/Analyst. More recently, I worked as the Director of Family Services for the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians, and as a Wraparound Manager for foster children at a nonprofit.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have spent my life working for underserved populations, and advocating to protect those who are often face discrimination. As the current President-elect of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), I worked and voted to take a stand against Conversion Therapy. I welcome the LBGTQ population to my practice. I also have extensive experience working with Hispanics and African Americans.
