About My Clients
While anxiety is omnipresent in our world (the reality of pandemic life!) I believe it can be healed through therapy and an upgrade to self-care. My trauma specialty is healing childhood experiences that are holding you back in adulthood. I also support the unique challenges of becoming and being a parent in the 21st century. This is via pregnancy & postpartum support as well as working with parents of young children. I also have special training (and a soft spot in my heart) for adolescents.
My Background and Approach
As a human, I am genuinely curious. I bring this, with a sense of present attunement to my sessions. Genuinely eager to do this work, I am lively and engaged. I am not a quiet blank slate as you might see in media depictions of therapists! The base layer of all my work is informed by self-compassion, mindfulness and psychodynamic theory. To me, psychodynamic theory shows us that your childhood informs who you are today. My first therapist love was attachment theory and was reinforced by Emotionally Focused Therapy. We will use this as a guidepost to your relationships. My natural tendency is to lean on what’s going well in your life to foster further growth — this makes me a strength-based therapist. I am moved, challenged, and curious about the stories and meaningful narratives we become attached to in our lives, making me an existentialist. I am trained in EMDR and use this to treat your trauma and other issues with this highly effective and meaningful treatment.
