About My Clients
I help individuals who struggle with feelings of uncertainty and loneliness to feel peace, connection, and happiness in their life. We will work together to identify and process old messages and beliefs that are getting in the way of your life and relationships, so that you can better understand yourself and others. It is possible to feel contentment and happiness in life. You can build rich and thriving relationships where you feel accepted and loved.
My Background and Approach
I became a therapist because of my own transformative experience in therapy, earning a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology. I also hold a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction and have 20 years of experience in education, a background I find benefits my work with children, adolescents, families, and other educators. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds who struggle with challenging beliefs and behaviors, communication issues, anxiety and depression, difficulty forming and maintaining relationships, trauma, faith deconstruction, and LGBTQIA+ identity processing. I value the intersectional cultures each person brings to therapy and strive to understand the unique perspective and influence this brings to each person’s life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in supporting today's youth, so have been a "big sister" through Big Brothers Big Sisters, and provided workshops on topics such as depression, identity, and intersectionality to school-age individuals. I believe healthcare is a right, not a luxury, and am especially interested in providing mental healthcare to underserved populations. Racial justice is a cause I care greatly about and I have strived to learn more, including forming a virtual book club in 2016, participating in a BLM march, speaking up in work settings, and supporting The Loveland Foundation. I am passionate about education and providing equitable, free education to all, no matter their racial or economic background. My time as an educator in Los Angeles revealed the educational disparity that exists and created a passion to change it. I believe that music can be healing, a good laugh with a friend can replenish, and a walk or hike outside can be restorative.
