About My Clients
While I have a dynamic reach, and enjoy working with many different populations, I especially enjoy helping people explore, understand, and overcome codependency and identity issues. These can look like an unstable sense of self, attaching to harmful people, and chronic people-pleasing, to name a few. Often times the focus is on self-esteem and developing a stable sense of self, as well as exploring relational trauma that stems from dysfunctional family and relationship dynamics.
My Background and Approach
I practice from a psycho-dynamic perspective, which simply means I value experiences all throughout the life span, including childhood. We work together to understand how this contributes to your unique personality structure, unconscious dynamics, and identifying patterns throughout time that contribute to poor mental health and relationship quality. As a clinical social worker, I also value a systems perspective. This means taking into consideration all aspects of your life (work, home, politics, relationships, intersectional identities, etc.) and how they work for, or against, you. I will also weave in other psychology concepts that are relevant to you. This can include cognitive behavioral theory for more here-and-now mindset work, as well as dietetical behavior therapy for coping skills. Above all, I value being genuine, as your therapist, and on a person-to-person level. I am dedicated to my own growth and learning journey to be able to show up in the room for you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As mentioned, I am a social worker and fight for social justice for all people. Like many, I am horrified at the hate and oppression we see in our socio, economic, and political climate; both past and present. I have an intimate understanding of how this affects our mental health and am committed to trying to make the world a better place one therapy session at a time. I consider myself to have an exceptionally open-mind and love to learn something from everyone. Like everyone else, I too am processing my human experience one day at a time. I enjoy the presence of all animals (cat person at my core), appreciating art and music, as well as spending time connecting to nature and literature.
