About My Clients

If you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed out and are having a hard time in life; I get it. My name is Catherine Moore, I work with people like you, who are experiencing life changes, need someone to talk to, need stronger coping skills, and need to press pause sometimes. I usually see women who are working, going to school, and/or are Mothers who struggle with anxiety and want to feel better.

My Background and Approach

I approach therapy by getting to know who you are now, where your thoughts and behaviors come from, exploring how the different factors in your life impact you, and teaching you coping skills to move forward. The theoretical approaches I use most are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness-based approaches. These all work together to explore how your thoughts and emotions impact your actions. More importantly, how to take back control of your thoughts so you are not suffering from ruminating or racing thoughts that distract you from what's truly important. During the first session, we will get to know each other. This is your opportunity to get to know me and my opportunity to get to know you and what brings you to therapy. I'll ask about your life - what you do, your support people/pets, hobbies, spirituality, physical health, mental health, and what you are hoping to gain from therapy. All of these have an impact on the work we do together.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that women hold our society together. We are the problem solvers, the peacemakers, the planners, and the stronghold of our family - wether we like it or not. Culturally we are told to "stay strong" and "resting is lazy". We hold all of these responsibilities on our shoulders and while yes, this may work for a while, eventually this gets HEAVY. We find ourselves saying, "I can't today", "I'm overwhelmed", even start thinking, "How can I just disappear?". If this is you, I get it. It is not until we can learn to hit the "pause" button that we can unleash our power of love, empathy, creativity, and joy.
