About My Clients

Something just doesn't feel right - you go back and forth between extreme emotion, or total emptiness. You have outbursts that seem to drive people away. When you get mad, you can't seem to calm yourself down, and when you get upset, you think about self-harm or suicide. Maybe you drink or use to numb the pain of being yourself. You start to wonder if there is something wrong with you, since you feel so different than other people.

My Background and Approach

My treatment philosophy is: your feelings are valid, and your behavior makes sense. Behaviors that other people might judge or misunderstand, still make sense to the person doing them. Actions like cutting, or using substances, start from a person's desire to feel better. If you discover that you've lost control of your emotions, and you want to start to let go of behaviors that aren't serving you anymore, I'm here to help. I work from a strengths-based, trauma-informed perspective: that you are a smart, and capable, and lovable human being who is doing your very best to navigate a confusing and sometimes hurtful world. Together, we'll identify the ways that your past hurts have influenced your journey, and make space to heal from them while also moving forward to address the challenges you're facing today.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that every single person has inherent dignity and worth. I believe that asking for help is a sign of strength. I believe in recovery: I know for a fact that it is possible to get sober. I know for a fact it is possible to stop self-harming. I believe in continually improving my skills as a therapist and have recently taken additional trainings in LGBTQ+ visibility, crisis identification and de-escalation, and trauma, abuse, and neglect.
