About My Clients
You're the one everyone else leans on: capable, accomplished, and exhausted from holding it all together. You've spent years walking on eggshells with a partner, parent, or colleague who made you doubt your own reality. You may still be in that relationship, just finding your footing after leaving it, or finally naming what happened in childhood. Beneath the competence is chronic anxiety, grief for the life you deserved, and a quiet hope that things can be different. I'm here for YOU.
My Background and Approach
I'm Catie Eager, a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Certified Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician practicing virtually in New Jersey, Washington D.C., and Virginia. I founded Lotus Mental Health Counseling to fill a gap I kept seeing: brilliant, capable people destroyed by relationships that quietly dismantled their sense of self. My approach is trauma-informed, practical, and strategic. We'll make sense of the dynamics that trapped you, rebuild trust in your own instincts, and develop tools that work in real moments: the family gathering, the impossible coworker, the boundary that keeps getting crossed. Healing isn't just processing the past. It's learning to protect your peace going forward. I also work with grief, particularly the complicated, compounded kind that doesn't fit neatly into other people's timelines or expectations. You deserve a therapist who understands exactly what you've been through. I do.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe people have a profound capacity to heal, but healing doesn't happen in a vacuum. It requires validation, compassion, and the right support at the right time. That belief isn't just clinical for me, it's personal. Every day in my own life I have witnessed and experienced both the damage that antagonistic relationships cause and the resilience that becomes possible when someone feels genuinely safe and supported. It informs everything I bring into the therapy room. I'm also actively looking to connect with organizations doing meaningful work in narcissistic/antagonistic abuse recovery and community support. If you know of opportunities, I'd love to hear about them.
