About My Clients
I am best suited for clients who are ready to work on improving their quality of life. Sometimes we need to address the past, or the present, or our worries about the future. Maybe we are supporting young humans in growing and need some direction for the best ways to set limits and communicate. Regardless of the issue, therapy is a valuable experience and a great weapon to have in tackling both the large and small issues that come up in life.
My Background and Approach
Through my experience, I have been able to work with clients of all ages and backgrounds. I have worked with children with behavioral issues, adolescents involved with juvenile court, and adults in recovery from alcohol or substance use. I have experience in individual and family therapy to help build connection and fine tune any family dynamics that may help to be a more healthy unit. The core of these circumstances generally stems from a place of trauma or an inability to cope. Therapy can help to address these connections and promote your ability to emotionally regulate. I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, and grief in both minors and adults. I utilize techniques from different modalities to help provide the best fit for you, including EMDR, CBT, DBT, SFBT, and Narrative Therapies. I also have additional certifications in Mortal Reconation Therapy (MRT) and Native American Health.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is my belief that therapy can help create stepping stones to the place that you want to be. I became a therapist because therapy has helped me in the past to address some of my own issues with PTSD, and I want to be available to provide services to the communities that I love. I truly believe that therapy can help to promote healthy individuals and healthy individuals make better communities for ourselves, our children, and future generations on this Earth. I am an inter-sectional feminist and lead an empowerment theory approach in my personal and professional life. I have engaged in nonviolent, moral civil action through the Poor People's Campaign, the Women's March of 2016, and more recently, Black Lives Matter protests. I am an advocate of advocating for the needs of women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ , and other oppressed communities.
