About My Clients
I specialize in working with ages 17-30 dealing with issues related to substance misuse/abuse, trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder, high functioning anxiety, codependent relationships, and life transitions.
My Background and Approach
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling and Community Psychology and a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation and Addictions Counseling from Saint Cloud State University. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor and am passionate about working with individuals struggling with co-occurring diagnoses. I believe it is essential for people to develop a positive and strong internal relationship with themselves that then opens space for them to feel capable and in control. I work side by side with individuals to help them develop their capabilities, explore achievable goals, and create action to improve their circumstances. I utilize strengths-based, cognitive, solution-focused, and trauma informed approaches for the purpose of promoting your self-growth and personal achievement.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In my experience I see people doing the best they can with what they know best. An abnormal reaction to an abnormal situation is a normal response. Additionally, how we interpret and connect with the world around us can have a profound impact on how we choose the lives we lead. I believe through strong and positive connections and relationships with our world we can make choices that feel safe, secure, and meet our needs. I want everyone I work with to feel capable and strong in making these choices. I'm a dog person but I also have a cat so it's really both for me and I won't send you packing if you're the cat person. Further - I believe in community. I make a point to integrate my local roots into my daily living from supporting small businesses to contributing time or resources to Minnesota based events and causes. I think when we put in effort where we work and play we become the narrative for positive change within our very own neighborhoods.
