About My Clients

Understanding how challenging yet important finding quality and affordable mental health care can be, I help clients that look like me, who come from an urban community, relief the stressors of society, ie. Anxiety, Procrastination, Depression, Oppression and Low Self-Esteem. In addition I specialize in helping, women and men who struggle with Substance Abuse, Gambling and Anger Management.

My Background and Approach

Clinically, I have worked in a range of non-profits that service individuals that are dealing with one or more issues in their lives which includes, but is not limited to, HIV+/AIDS, homelessness, alcohol and substance abuse/addiction. I also have experience serving individuals who are struggling with gambling. I have proven success working with clients who have been diagnosed with Clinical Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, ADD and various phobias. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Reframing as successful treatment modalities in practice. I do use worksheets in sessions, as I belief the worksheets paints a picture of your story and helps you see your growth. The worksheets are also used as a before and after pictorial( This is my life when I started Therapy and This is my life while progressing and after.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. I don't believe that there is a limit to human capacity. I think that the main reason we develop mental health issues is partly due to our biological and social make-up. Part of the issues come from the learned behaviors we exhibit in life, exhibited behaviors start in pre-teen, teen, or in our adult life. As a teenager I suffered with obesity, which led to my feelings of anger. This became a challenge that I knew I needed to overcome. I in 2007, I lost 72 pounds. Through my own therapy, I have learned to handle my anger and move past the negative thoughts that were taking control of my mind. I started to learn how to combat those negative thoughts and control my anger. One of my methods to overcoming this challenge was exercise. If you are fed up with feeling bad and want to overcome some of your life challenges. I want you to contact me so that we can work together to create a better life for you.
