About My Clients
I have worked in the field for about nine years, and have experience working in nonprofit community mental health in individual, family, couple, and group settings. I have found my niche working with adults in individual sessions. I specialize in treating Anxiety, Depression, and Trauma, as well as helping clients improve self-image and healthy boundaries with others. I have a laid-back counseling style that creates an environment of comfort, nonjudgment, and understanding.
My Background and Approach
I am trained in EMDR and utilize it with many of my clients. EMDR and bilateral stimulation can be used for a wide variety of issues, including treating insomnia, nightmares, physical pain, and unwanted behavior. Often times, clients can make as much progress in a few sessions of EMDR as they can in a few months (or more) of talk therapy. Many of my approaches are also CBT based, which focuses on helping individuals identify and reframe exaggerated thinking that can create or maintain symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, and work and relationship issues.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I genuinely believe that every person has the capability to make positive changes, improve their lives, create new habits, and most importantly - feel better. In the time I have spent working as a counselor, I have seen the immense resiliency people are capable of. Through the different populations I've worked with, I've found a common theme - that everyone has the ability to overcome the challenges in their lives with the right environment of support. Honesty and vulnerability are the first steps toward this growth. I would love to provide a safe environment where this vulnerability can lead to healing for you.
