About My Clients
We live in a busy world and perfectionistic culture. There is always more to be done and improved on and it can feel never ending. We are also coming out a season of collective trauma that has taken a toll on many of us. Burnout is high and daily life can feel extremely overwhelming. If you can relate to this, you're not alone and there is hope. I am here to support you in the overwhelm and help you learn how to regulate your emotions so that you can feel more grounded, present and whole.
My Background and Approach
It's tough to show up and talk to a stranger about your deepest emotions, but as the therapeutic relationship develops, so does your capacity for vulnerability. I believe that each person is an expert on themselves, no one will ever know more about you than you! My job is to act as a gentle guide and resource as you navigate your story and healing journey. When appropriate, I will compassionately offer insights, challenges, and reflections to support your process. I like to address health through a physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual lens. All of these elements are deeply intertwined and I explore each of them with my clients as they relate to individual goals. Humans tend to store a lot of emotional pain in their physical bodies. I frequently use mindful awareness and breath-work to help client's connect to their bodies and emotions, making way for healing and greater well-being.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I work to provide culturally competent care for whomever I come in contact with in my therapy practice. I am committed to continual learning and growth in this area. If I feel that I am lacking in competency regarding a client or marginalized group the client is a part of, I will seek consultation and wisdom from someone with the appropriate expertise. While I welcome all people to my practice, I am limited in my training and expertise. If I feel that a client would receive more appropriate care through another skilled clinician, I will provide a prompt referral. I am committed to seeing each client as an individual person with unique experiences, while also taking into account the larger systems at play. My greatest hope is that clients would experience safety within the counseling context and not intensified burden. It is a privilege and an honor to be trusted with each person's story
