About My Clients
I enjoy working with adults experiencing emotional distress including: anxiety, depression, life transitions, history of trauma, alcohol misuse, career or academic stress, questioning your purpose. I also have specialized training in working with new or expecting parents. This includes post partum depression or anxiety, obsessive compulsive thoughts related to parenting, or even just feeling a bit lost in your new role.
My Background and Approach
I received my Master's in Social Work in 2012 from the University of Washington with a focus on mental health. I've worked in a variety of settings including counseling agencies and emergency mental health settings. I moved from agency settings into my own private practice in February of 2021. My experience in this field has taught me that every client is unique, requiring me as a clinician to adapt my approach to fit your needs. I usually begin from a Cognitive Behavioral approach, which is looking at the pattern between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I often will incorporate mindfulness activities and motivational interviewing. I have found the greatest success in working with clients is helping you to identify your strengths: often, you already have what you need to implement change and I'm just here to help you bring that to the surface.
