About My Clients
If you find yourself in a difficult place, let me be the first to say, you are not alone. We all have times in our lives when we need a voice of hope, a listening ear, and eyes to see beyond our current circumstances. Making the decision to seek support can be a humbling, yet extremely gratifying experience. What I hope to offer is a unique space where you can be yourself, learn about yourself, and more fully live into your true identity.
My Background and Approach
Casey works to prioritize a safe and curious space, using client-centered talk therapy and CBT and SFT techniques to better understand your experience and help you work toward your goals. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Texas A&M and her M.A. in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary-Charlotte in 2015. Casey has provided counseling in a variety of settings: pregnancy center, church office, mental health and substance abuse crisis center, and outpatient clinic. For the past five years, Casey has worked with adults, couples and older adolescents in the private practice setting in Durham, North Carolina before moving to Waco, Texas where she continues to work virtually with North Carolina clients and now Texas residents as well. In these settings, Casey has worked with people of varied diagnoses and severity including Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, and Anxiety Disorder, to major life transitions, relationship difficulties and social anxiety.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a therapist, I highly value validating every human’s experience. I firmly believe the more we gain insight and understanding into our selves and our stories, the more we are empowered to transform distorted narratives, operate out of our true selves, and make choices about how we want to live. In setting goals both for myself and my clients, I work to achieve the dialectical balance of acceptance and change, acknowledging we must be gracious and understanding with ourselves and we can work to move toward health. Lastly, I believe we all need to recognize our limits as humans and create healthier lives and relationships by learning to utilize boundaries.
