About My Clients
My clients are highly motivated people who get stuck on the couch or stuck in their heads. They are functioning in their lives but are not feeling fulfilled or are feeling disappointed with how their lives, relationships, families, work or just their daily existence has turned out.
My Background and Approach
My approach to counseling is dynamic, life is not static and counseling should not be either. Each time we meet you can expect that I will listen to what is going on in your life and just be curious about the nature of your experience. Some sessions we will laugh a lot and other sessions will be difficult. I always hope that sessions are insightful and a source of wellness for clients. I have a Masters in Counseling from Oakland University,as well as additional training for Marriage and Family Therapy. I am a fully licensed counselor and a limited licensed marriage and family therapist. In addition to providing counseling, I am also a supervisor for counselors and provide supervision for practicum students in Oakland University's counseling program.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that each individual should have the opportunity to explore their experiences through various lenses to gain a greater understanding of their own beliefs and how they are formed. I believe that counseling can be a very liberating experience and although not every session is going to feel wonderful at the end, there is an element of growing pains, the process is worth the energy. I work at Oakland University supervising students, I have my own practice and I work out of another private practice. I enjoy the state of Michigan- the upper peninsula is amazing and I have a fantastic dog named Grumples.
