About My Clients

My clients tend to be overwhelmed overthinkers and recovering perfectionists, struggling with anxiety and the general sense that everybody else somehow has everything all figured out. I work with people who feel spread thin and burnt out, but like they have to keep it all together on the surface. Whether that's manifesting in interpersonal challenges and/or impacting the way they're relating to themselves and their bodies, I'm here to help make sense of it all.

My Background and Approach

My ultimate prerogative is to meet you where you are and to help you figure out where you want to go. Working from a foundation of Relational Gestalt therapy, I am always seeking to help you increase your awareness— both of yourself and of the systems that impact you and how you experience the world. Our work together could be broad and all-encompassing or primarily focused on a specific issue with which you are dealing. My background has lent itself to a specialty in working with eating orders/disordered eating, body image struggles, sex and relationships, entertainment industry professionals, new parents, challenging family dynamics, and teens. Through prior work as a crisis counselor with The Trevor Project and as a sex educator, I consider the therapeutic space I hold to be LGBTQ+, kink, and non-traditional relationship structure affirming. I have previously worked in IOP/PHP eating disorder treatment, and with middle and high school students.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Everything we go through is shaped by our context. The systems that influence, and often oppress, us impact our mental health. Cultures rooted in individualism pathologize people that are struggling; they pass responsibility onto singular humans instead of attempting to create systemic change that might alleviate suffering. So to try and act like therapy should exist in a vacuum, or that therapists are meant to remain politically neutral while we try to help others heal is not only unrealistic; it’s irresponsible. With the limited space I have here I'll say: I believe in human rights. I believe that it is essential to acknowledge and talk about privilege, marginalization, oppression, and power. I believe that all bodies are good bodies, regardless of size, color, race, ability, age, illness, history, or any other factor. I believe in caring for our planet. I believe in interdependence and having empathy for fellow humans. Happy to expand on all of the above when we consult!
