About My Clients
I work with highly insightful women and members of the LGBTQ+ community who, despite their best efforts, feel stuck. Often admired for their competence, they struggle privately with overthinking and intense feelings like guilt, shame, jealousy, and anger. Dynamics with others are painful and confusing, resulting in conflict or anxiety. Coping mechanisms like perfectionism, control, and people-pleasing provide a false sense of safety while actually sabotaging intimacy and inner peace.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in synthesizing advanced, evidence-based interventions with depth-oriented, trauma-focused, and attachment-informed care. By strategically blending behavioral, cognitive, experiential, and relational modalities, I'm able to effectively target the specific problems my clients face, facilitating both immediate, practical improvements and sustained, profound growth. I practice flexibly and tailor treatment for the individual needs of each of my clients. How I work with you will depend on what works for you. I earned my Master of Science in Social Work at Columbia University. I am extensively trained and experienced in a variety of therapeutic modalities, including DBT, CBT, CPT, EFT, and PGDT. Please see my website (carriecovell.com) for details on my background.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I see the therapeutic relationship as a distinctly remarkable opportunity for growth. It’s not only a conduit for change, but a model for how we relate to others. I am authentically myself in session because the connection we’ll share will matter as much as the techniques we’ll use to help you meet your goals, and it’s important you feel safe with me—not only to explore the intricacies of your psychology, but to repair the wounds of the past. We all need connection, understanding, and yes, sometimes help. Beyond education, training, and experience, it is my humanity I bring most fully to session. I want to meet you where it hurts, where things feel stuck, or where life stopped making sense. I’ve been there, too—and I know you can heal. I'm a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and in my personal time, I enjoy skiing, yoga, live theatre, volunteering with animal advocacy groups, and caring for my three senior, special needs rescue pups.
