About My Clients
If you or someone close to you is facing the challenges of active addiction, or if you're in recovery and ready to address the experiences that led to substance use, you're not alone. Perhaps others have expressed concern about how you're using substances to cope with daily stress. You deserve a safe, non-judgmental space to explore the role alcohol or drugs have played in your life. Together, we can work towards the life you've always envisioned for yourself.
My Background and Approach
I believe that many addiction struggles are rooted in trauma. By using a trauma-informed, person-centered approach to therapy, I am honored to walk alongside my clients on their journey to healing and self-discovery. My approach involves meeting you where you are, helping you find and increase your own motivation for change, overcoming obstacles and fears, developing skills and resources. I am actively involved in our sessions, challenging to the extent you feel comfortable in order to support your growth. I will share practical tools, skills, resources that you can start using straight away. We'll start with what's going on right now that brought you to therapy, look at when and where unhelpful patterns started, learn how to change limiting story your brain has taught you to believe. I have extensive training in leading edge techniques that integrate what's going on in your brain with what's happening in your body, so you can get some relief and lead your best life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that addiction is usually rooted in trauma, and I'm passionate about working with anyone who is or has experienced struggles with alcohol or other substances to help manage life. I believe that everyone has worth, that you are not someone who is broken and in need of being fixed. I am respectful of your culture and beliefs and am interested in helping you achieve your goals. It is important to me to create a working environment that feels safe and welcoming for you. I don't believe in a one size fits all approach to therapy, invite feedback from you as to what's working or not working. I believe in using humor when appropriate, therapy doesn't always have to be serious. I am a big animal lover, have several rescue pets, so if your cats, dogs, or other furry friends make an appearance during sessions, that is totally ok with me!
