Addiction is a form of dissociation. So exploring how and why and finding answers is the focus. Dissociation is on a spectrum and can go from a simple distraction to avoid some difficult problem to a full blown disorder. With regard to substance abuse it is clear to see the personality changes in people when using with a black out is the ultimate dissociation. There are many forms of addictive behavior. Addiction support groups such as SMART or AA are helpful in this process too.

Jungian based psychotherapy is a Depth Therapy. We look at unconscious elements that may be holding you back as well as some that can help you transform difficulties. The process of individuation is a key part of the process. Its about becoming attuned to your own unique self rather than living according to your developmental and cultural conditioning. Jung identified and named the collective unconscious which can simply be seen as our DNA evolving over centuries.

Over the years couples have come to me having lost their emotional connection to each other. I focus a lot on each partner connecting move to their own emotional life so that they can communicate this important aspect of relationship with each other. Becoming aware of projections we may have in relationships; looking at the way we may be enabling problem behavior in our partners; identifying healthy boundaries; and learning to take responsibility rather than blaming are some key elements.
