About My Clients
For the past 17+ years, I have offered in-person therapy, to individual adults and couples, and have recently added a video therapy option. The common feedback I consistently get from my clients, throughout my 17+ years as a behavioral health therapist, is that I actively listen with empathy and non-judgment. My clients tell me my kind, compassionate approach provides them a safe environment where they may work through some of the most sensitive personal experiences and feelings.
My Background and Approach
I have a Bachelors Degree, from Mount Holyoke College in psychology and sociology. During my undergraduate studies, I was inducted into Psy Chi, the national honor society of psychology. My Masters of Social Work degree is from Smith College. During my graduate studies, I was a member of the Anti-racist Committee. I have been a member of the National Association of Social Work since 2003 and fully embrace their Code of Ethics. During my 15+ years of social work experience, I have worked with hundreds of individual adults, families and couples to address a variety of behavioral and relationship issues, including an array of challenging life experiences. I use a number of therapeutic modalities depending on the issue clients come to therapy for, from cognitive behavioral to humanistic. By meeting clients where they are at, I have effectively helped clients struggling with depression, anxiety, loss, infidelity, substance abuse, complex relationship issues and compulsive overeating.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has strengths they often do not recognize they have. My goal is to make my clients aware of their unique set of character strengths that can be employed to meet any challenge they encounter. The most important ingredient of a therapeutic relationship is a good fit. I encourage new clients to tell me if they do not believe I am a good fit for their needs. This is a fundamental principle of effective therapy and if it does not exist, effective therapy cannot happen. My goal is to empower my clients to identify and utilize their set of strengths to meet the unique challenges of their lives. If you are struggling to cope with a difficult relationship, situation, behavioral or lifestyle change or with intense feelings, please do not struggle alone. I am here to help in a safe, private setting. My practice is private, not part of a group or agency. Let's work together to make life make sense. I have afternoon, evening and weekend appointments available.
