About My Clients
Caught between worlds, unsure of belonging? As an Asian American child of divorced immigrants, I understand navigating cultural and familial expectations while finding your own way. Childhood trauma, emotional struggles, or body image issues can leave you stuck. I've been there; change is possible, and your past doesn't define you. I help adults reconnect with their authentic selves, cultivating inner peace, resilience, and adaptable strength for mind and body.
My Background and Approach
I have a decade of experience in clinical mental health counseling and social work, working with diverse clients across all ages, genders, sexualities, and cultural backgrounds, facing a wide range of psychological and physiological challenges. I have extensive experience serving the AAPI and BIPOC communities. My approach is holistic, client-centered, and tailored to your unique needs. I believe you are the expert on your life, and I guide you with support, insight, and tools to navigate challenges and build resilience. We explore issues and traumas in a safe, nonjudgmental space, developing coping strategies for empowerment and growth. My therapeutic approach is highly customized, integrating theories and techniques from CBT, ACT, Mindfulness, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) based on each client's specific needs. I am an EMDRIA-certified EMDR therapist. I also integrate principles of nutritional mental health, acknowledging its impact on mood and energy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My journey to becoming a therapist stems from personal experiences, curiosity, and admiration for human potential and resilience. Growing up, I learned to prioritize others' needs and explored alternative healing methods due to my family's stigmatized view of mental health. I realized that being curious, non-judgmental, and sincere naturally created a safe space for others to confide in me. This discovery led me to this profession, where I truly enjoy witnessing people create their ideal reality while prioritizing my own well-being. My business name, "ROU Like Water," is inspired by the Taoist principle of adapting and flowing through life's challenges with strength and fluidity. I believe in helping you rediscover these qualities within yourself. Like water, which is formless yet powerful, yielding yet unyielding, and always finds its course, your inner self also possesses this adaptive strength and self-healing ability. We will explore your inner wisdom and learn to use it.
