About My Clients
I enjoy working with adults and aging adults, people experiencing loss and grief, as well as individuals who want to work on relationships and self-esteem. I view therapy as a form of storytelling, and a way or rewriting our own narratives. I am not a therapist who will sit with my legs crossed and say, "mhmm, yes, hmm" while you "vent". I will hold space and compassion for you, however I will also challenge you to let go and recreate.
My Background and Approach
I work through a CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) lens of training, but I also believe that using a strengths-based approach and developing a trusting relationship between client and therapist is of the utmost importance in making progress. When using CBT, I encourage people to notice the connections between their thoughts, behaviors and (believe it or not, often the most tricky of all to get at) emotions. As we get to know one another, we are usually able to identify patterns to these connections, rooted in core beliefs. Recognizing core beliefs and rewriting them can be an arduous task, but ultimately quite powerful in reaching the goals you bring to therapy.
