Self-esteem is essential to our optimal functioning and yet so many of us walk around feeling less than, struggling against comparisons, and berating ourselves in a way we would never speak to a friend or loved one. Together we can explore how negative self talk may be holding you back and imagine other ways of being. Using Mindfulness and Narrative Therapy, we can create a new story that more effectively serves you.

I spent years at a large hospital system in New York City working with families grieving the loss of a loved one. I can sit with you in your pain and collaboratively help make meaning of the loss. For some that means dedicating good works to their lost loved one while for others it's writing, gardening, joining a peer support group, attending religious services, or simply engaging in private rituals to keep their loved one present.

While Dialectical Behavior Therapy was originally developed to treat personality disorders, more recently it has been used effectively to support anxiety and depression along with other issues of living. I will teach you mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance skills to become alive to the present moment and live with less suffering.

For those who struggle with a fear that holds them back, exposure therapy is a deeply effective way to overcome that fear. Together we will create a fear hierarchy and tackle each fear, from least to most fear-inducing, at a pace that feels right to you.

My therapeutic approach is eclectic, and I love using the principles of Psychodynamic Therapy to help you become more self-aware. Using this therapeutic method we will also look at the dynamics of our therapeutic relationship as a mirror for your other relationships. We will use that information to help you become more cognizant of behaviors and potentially improve those relationships that are in needs of repair.
