About My Clients

My clinical specialties include treating comorbid anxiety, depression, chronic pain, trauma, grief and loss, anger, stress management, and a range of issues related to multiculturalism in health care. I have worked with many underserved communities but have primarily focused on treatment within the Latin/X & LGBTQ communities.

My Background and Approach

My training strongly focused on neuropsychological evaluations for a multitude of neuropsychological and psychological disorders related to TBI, dementia, movements disorders, stroke, rare neurologic disorders, among others, & providing associated treatment/interventions. As a clinical neuropsychologist with expertise in both individual psychotherapy and neuropsychological assessment my approach to treatment not only entails promoting the understanding of the brain-behavior relationship. I tend to favor an integrative and a strong collaborative approach to treat the underlying issue at hand. I strive is to educate, empower, and collaborate with clients to help them identify and accomplish their respective therapy goals and provide the tools necessary to maintain an optimal quality of life and emotional well-being. Treatment and services provided are strongly driven by the most updated evidence based practices, per the scientific literature.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I understand that seeking mental health support can be difficult for many but it all starts by making a decision. I aim to provide a safe space for communication and I understand that discussing sensitive information and "putting yourself out there" is challenging. Many times I have witnessed the catharsis that individuals suffering from anxiety or other emotional challenges experience just by taking that first step through seeking help. I am a member of Latin/x and LGBTQ+ community and I have strong understanding of the variety of difficulties we face identifying as such. I am also aware that many underserved and minority communities do not usually seek help, for a multitude of reasons. However, I encourage everyone to take that first step, which is often the hardest part, and start your journey towards improved emotional well-being and quality of life.
