Bilingual (English/Spanish) psychoanalytic psychotherapist in the West Village & by telehealth. I help what's unspoken become thinkable.

Clinical Social Worker in New York, NY

About My Clients

I work with adults drawn to depth, people who sense that some feelings and patterns resist quick fixes. Many are bilingual or living between cultures: problem-solvers, creatives, caregivers, and those carrying trauma that is hard to put into words. I see individuals in English y en español, and also work with couples and families. If you are curious about your inner life and willing to give the work time, we may be a good fit.

My Background and Approach

I'm a licensed clinical social worker (NY, NJ, PA, WA) and a candidate in adult and child & adolescent psychoanalytic training at IPTAR in New York. I earned my MSW at Smith College and studied computer science at MIT. For over a decade I've practiced bilingual psychotherapy: first in community mental health and mobile crisis work in Seattle, now in private practice in the West Village and by telehealth. My approach is psychoanalytic and psychodynamic, grounded in attachment (I'm trained in coding the Adult Attachment Interview) and shaped by years of contemplative, mindfulness-based practice. I attend to early, often pre-verbal experience, to how the body carries what words can't yet reach, and to culture, identity, and history. The work is open-ended and unhurried; we begin weekly and let it find its depth. I'm also a Washington State–certified Ethnic Minority Mental Health Specialist (Latino) and Child Mental Health Specialist.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

In psychoanalysis, reverie, the analyst Wilfred Bion's word, is the capacity to daydream on another's behalf: to receive what cannot yet be said and help it slowly become thinkable. That is the heart of how I understand this work. I believe the hardest parts of our lives are often the ones we have no words for yet, and that being deeply listened to without judgment, without hurry is itself what lets them change. I don't take suffering to be a problem to be solved so much as an experience to be understood, together. I take culture, language, and the particulars of a life seriously; my own family is from Colombia and Ecuador, and I have lived and worked across languages and worlds. Whoever you are, and in whatever language you dream, you are welcome here. Aquí todos somos bienvenidos.
