The working definition of trauma is the emotional response to an event or an experience that is deeply distressing and persistent. Psychological trauma is an injury that requires healing like any other injury. In general, trauma can be defined as a psychological, emotional response to an event or experience that is deeply distressing and often persistent. We utilize EMDR, CBT, Prolonged Exposure therapy to treat trauma.

We utilize Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy, the evidenced-based gold standard in treatment of OCD.

Our brains are the most powerful learning machines on earth, biologically hardwired to store thoughts, experiences and emotions. Thankfully, our brains have amazing plasticity, meaning we can reprogram, retrain and keep learning well into our advanced years. Understanding the biomechanics of addiction and brain plasticity gives us the roadmap to recovery.

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing or EMDR works effectively to stimulate both hemispheres of the brain to reprocess traumatic information, moving it out of the amygdala and into areas of the brain where these memories are less disruptive.
