About My Clients
As a queer, neurodivergent, and chronically ill therapist, I find it important to serve members of my community and other marginalized communities. I work with 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, neurodivergent individuals, and chronically ill/disabled individuals to provide equal access to care that is competent and compassionate. I also work with folks who have more serious concerns about their mental health, such as folks who have borderline personality disorder.
My Background and Approach
I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), so I will often utilize a DBT-informed approach and can offer DBT skills training. As a therapist, I also believe in therapy being individualized and using what works for you, which may be a combination of approaches. My approach to therapy is like teaching you how to drive - I'm in the passenger seat helping you learn and can take the wheel when I need to, but you are ultimately in control and driving your own car. I want you to be able to apply the skills you learn in therapy to your life outside of therapy and be able to thrive.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
At my core, I am humanist and intersectional - I look at how someone's unique experiences with privilege and oppression shapes their identity and outlook. I believe in liberation for marginalized people and bring that to my practice. I am actively engaged in antiracist work, along with working on decolonizing my therapeutic approach.
