About My Clients
I am a cis-female in her 40's who really loves working with all types of people! So, I have many different clients that fit probably almost any category of diversity one can think of. I mostly work with teens and adults, individuals, families, and couples, however, I also enjoy working with children. I am happy to work with the LGBTQ+ community, persons that take part in non-monogamous relationships, and ethnicities and religious backgrounds that are different from my own.
My Background and Approach
I have been working in the therapy field for more than 20 years and started my own group practice almost 15 years ago. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) which means that I have special expertise and training in working with systems that surround an individual and/or the system itself (family, couple, etc). Since my degree and Licensure, I have obtained additional training in Imago Couples Therapy (Certification - CIT), Adoption Competence, Trauma, and have become more Trans-Competent. I tend to utilize an eclectic approach that includes family systems work, Structural, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral, Body-Centered Gestalt, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) approaches. I tend to tailor the treatment to the unique individual or family, and make sure that we are focusing on what the client most values.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I truly believe that my clients are as much the expert as I am and I strive to work together as a team. I believe that working with individuals from all diverse backgrounds is not a "specialty" but a "must". I strive and will continue to strive to get more training to best serve my clients. I also am really down-to-earth and non-threatening. I want my clients to feel very comfortable and safe within the therapy room.
