About My Clients

Hello, my name is Cara, I am a Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Oregon! I am passionate about working with adult individuals who feel stuck or disconnected with life. I enjoy working with people to feel more balance, self-acceptance, and build agency in their own lives. My clients might have had traumatic experiences in their lives, be struggling with anxiety or depression, or live with bipolar disorder.

My Background and Approach

My style is collaborative, authentic, and personal. I practice from a person-centered approach and when appropriate pull from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Feminist Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. While I may draw from different therapeutic modalities in our work, I believe you are the expert of your own life and I take a role of support. My hope is to provide you an opportunity for growth - through connecting with yourself and your emotions, building skills to identify and manage your symptoms, learning how to strengthen your relationships, and to feel that you are living an authentic and intentional life. I offer telehealth and walk and talk sessions. Walk and talk sessions allow us to move the therapy outdoors. This could be in the form of a trail hike, a walk on a path, or sitting on a park bench.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

When I am not working with clients I do the typical Pacific Northwest hobbies such as hiking, camping, enjoying a hot mug of coffee, and tending to my garden or houseplants. I love to get comfy with a good Sci-Fi or fantasy book, listen to podcasts, or learn a new board game. I am queer affirming and strive for an inclusive environment for anyone I work with, including but not limited to body size/shape, gender, race, country of origin, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion and disability status. I am a white therapist and I work to practice therapy (and life) in an actively anti-racist way by examining and undoing internalized white supremacy within myself, the mental health field, and my community.
